Routines & Curriculum

We provide children with opportunities to play with ideas and materials in different situations, with a variety of resources. We provide many hands-on life experiences. This enables them to develop connections and come to a new and better understanding, while developing language, curiosity, problem-solving, experimenting, persistence, imagination, shared thinking, turn taking and new ways of doing things, to list a few. 

As your child moves through the various rooms in the nursery, you will receive information through the app giving you a little insight into the play and activities planned for your child both indoors and outdoors.

Children with additional needs will be accommodated to the best of our ability, we seek advice from you the parent and other professional bodies.

Development: Key worker

We will work alongside your child to develop them further. We aim to do this through a key worker system, this provides a safe platform from which your child can securely form further relationships. Staff can identify needs and help children reach their developmental goals through age and stage planning and monthly observations on your child. The role of the Key Worker is to know their child and support their sense of identity, and individuality, and help them reach their full potential.

The Daily Mile

Ladybird Lane proudly takes part in The Daily Mile challenge. The Daily Mile aims to improve the physical, social, emotional, and mental health and well-being of our children – regardless of age, or ability. There are so many benefits: 

  • Maintains a healthy weight.
  • Manages various health conditions.
  • Improves cardiovascular fitness.
  • Strengthen little ones’ bones and muscles.

Our Daily Mile also helps everyone’s mental health, it improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood, and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue. Overall, it’s great fun for the kids! All rooms are outside every day for daily exercise or a walk in our environment or to the local park. 

The nursery has prams on site and adheres to staff-to-child ratios when outside the nursery premises.
